What is a stroke?
A stroke is a condition caused by the blood supply to the brain being cut off. Strokes are a medical emergency and urgent treatment is essential. This is usually caused by a blood clot or where a weakened blood vessel supplying blood to the brain bursts. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes are all recognised risk factors that can contribute to having a stroke.
Recovering from a stroke
It is very common that people who have had a stroke will have live with long-term health problems that affect their health and day-to-day lives. Some can rehabilitate and fully recover, others may need ongoing support for the rest of their lives. At Corinium Care, we have decades of experience providing compassionate care for those in recovery, or for those living with the long-term effects of a stroke.
Our carers are on hand to help with personal care such as bathing and toileting as well as household duties such as cooking, cleaning and shopping, and to generally help make their client’s life as rich as possible. This can even include walking the dog and looking after a much-loved cat.
Most of all, our live-in carers are always there to provide companionship and peace of mind; our carers look after our clients with the same compassion as they would a member of their own family.
